For many fashion brands, Denim is an essential part of collections, but at Vingino it goes a step further: Denim is the foundation. Not only in product development, but also in vision, positioning and partnerships. The children’s fashion brand, part of Love for Denim, breathes jeans DNA, and that translates into everything from design decisions into sustainable market approaches.
Denim as a brand foundation
The fact that Vingino originated from Denim is already in the name of the parent company: Love for Denim BV. Since its foundation, the brand has grown from niche player to international lifestyl label, with denim still forming the starting point for each collection. “As a denim designer I experience enormous freedom within the creative process,” says Bas Horlings, denim designer within the team. “But Denim is also always under the magnifying glass. The basis must therefore be correct.”
That balance between creative freedom and technical precision is the core of Vingino’s design approach. Collections are characterized by a recognizable mix of tough, colorful designs with a vintage, Italian twist, always tailored to the portability and mobility that children need.
Sustainability starts with design
Where sustainability used to be an abstract concept, it is now a tangible reality in the studio. “As a designer you are at the start of the chain. Every conscious choice of materials has an impact,” Horlings notes. Currently, experiments with recycled zippertape, pocketing and removable rivets and buttons, elements that make recycling at the end of the life cycle is easier. “Thanks to our involved CSR manager, we as a team constantly remain sharp.”
New generations, new denim technology
Vingino continues to innovate. For SS25 the brand launches a Lightweight denim of only 8 ounce (226 g/yd²): light in weight, but optically robust. Ideal for active summer days. In addition, the brand comes with a completely renewed never out of stock icon collection that consists of denim with 20% post-consumer recycled cotton. This re -uses old denim, without compromising on visual or technical quality.
The use of Post-Consumer Recycled Cotton provides hardly any restrictions on a technical point of view: the slub structure is slightly more visible, but otherwise the difference is minimal. Creatively speaking, new possibilities are created without concessions. For SS26, the design team even works on an ‘outdoor play-proof’ jeans, a smart translation from performancewear to children’s fashion.
Five -year warranty as a quality statement
Vingino also distinguishes itself in customer promise: the brand offers a five -year warranty on its denim products. In a market where fast fashion often predominates, that is a powerful signal. “We have been working with the same suppliers for over fifteen years. We know what our fabrics can handle”. Consumers can activate the warranty via a QR code on the hang tag. A service -oriented approach that not only exudes trust, but also strengthens brand loyalty.
Stronger together: the denim deal
Vingino is affiliated with the Denim Deal 2.0, an international cooperation in which brands, producers and collectors commit to a minimum of 20% recycled cotton in newly produced denim. “We believe that real impact can only be achieved through collective action.” The Denim Deal facilitates knowledge sharing, market updates and network formation, something that the sector needs according to Vingino.
Thanks to Vingino’s long -term relationships with suppliers, the brand was able to switch quickly and integrate the required adjustments into the production process. The ambition is to scale this up and to make other denim elements also circular. “We can do it and we’re going to scale it up in the future: only we make a small step but together a big one!”
