“Despicable” people smugglers who are “exploiting vulnerable people” through social media face severe penalties, the Home Office has warned. A spokesperson said gangs were “peddling lies on social media and placing [people] in horrendous conditions, working for next to nothing”. A NASA spacecraft is “safe” after making the closest-ever approach to the sun by a human-made object, the space agency says. The Parker Solar Probe came within 3.8 million miles of the sun’s surface on Christmas Eve, NASA said.
