Paris – The booming second-hand market has put a spotlight on a profession that was once in the shadows: the anti-counterfeiting expert. It is now a highly sought-after profession, with many candidates and few chosen ones. However, as the second-hand fashion industry gains ground, the demand for luxury goods experts is growing. “There is a strict selection process, because it is a profession that many people dream of,” says Victoire Boyer-Chammard, Expertise Ambassador & Partnerships Manager at Vestiaire Collective. She now heads the Vestiaire Académie and explains that she learned her trade on the job, after a career in the…

Recently, Gabbiano creative director Ebubekir Aksu and designer Filip van de Bruinhorst stopped by FashionUnited’s headquarters to talk all things Gabbiano. What emerged was a strong picture of Gabbiano’s wholesale strategy, and the role the FW24 collection plays in their approach. Different cultures, lifestyles and travel destinations are always the starting point for the collections of Dutch urban lifestyle brand Gabbiano. This is also the case in the latest Fall/Winter 2024 collection, which has recently become available at select retailers. For this collection ‘Nordic Blueprint’, Gabbiano draws inspiration from the versatile city of Copenhagen and the conscious lifestyle of its…
The ‘demure’ trend has magically appeared on social media platforms and sparked a cultural conversation. The viral spread began with beauty influencer Jools Lebron, who posted on Aug. 5, 2024, about doing makeup for work in a “modest and respectful” way. She also likes to use the words “cute” and “classic,” Lebron (who is a transgender woman) told ‘CBS Mornings.’ “Your modesty is what it means to you. It’s being mindful of the people around you, but also yourself and how you present yourself to the world.” It’s a tongue-in-cheek aesthetic that’s all the rage right now. So as we…

And the largest diamond ever found in Botswana, the Botswana government added in a separate statement. In terms of carat, the diamond is not far off the world’s largest diamond, the “Cullinan,” which weighs more than 3,100 carats and was discovered in South…
More and more consumers are demanding products that are not only high quality, but also meaningful and identity-defining. This demand heralds the end of superficial brand promises and makes way for substance, transparency and a value orientation that runs through all facets of a brand. Countless cases of deception, tricks and blunders have shaken consumer trust in established brands. Whether VW, Coca-Cola or Ikea, H&M, Zara or Uniqlo: communication errors and accusations of greenwashing damage the credibility of many companies. Consumers are becoming less and less forgiving when they feel disappointed – and they take the consequences. This can be…
