Funnily enough, there is no definitive origin story for April Fool’s Day. The oft-repeated legend is that this day, when people hoax or prank others for fun, dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563.
