The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry of Labor will work in communication with the Parliamentary Work Committee in order to expedite the legislation of the Law for the Care of People with Disabilities and Special Needs to guarantee the rights and demands of this broad segment.”
Al-Asadi said during his meeting with a group of people with disabilities and special needs – according to the statement – that “the law reached the Labor Committee and the parliamentary civil society organizations this week after it was discussed and voted on in the Council of Ministers, and that the ministry will make an effort to ensure that the law comes out in a manner that is satisfactory and fair to these people.” segment,” calling on representatives of people with disabilities to “communicate with the parliamentary committee to add and amend the law to achieve their urgent needs.”
He explained, “The new law includes an increase in the salary of the full-time employee from 170,000 to 250,000 dinars, in addition to excluding the salary of the employee appointed from the province along with the social protection salary for those below the poverty line,” stressing, “The Ministry of Labor has addressed all ministries in order to facilitate… Procedures for people with disabilities and special needs.
He called for “providing suitable places or special offices to receive clients from this segment to hear their demands and meet their needs.”
