There’s no denying that floral dresses come out en masse at this time of year and take over the wardrobes. I have also been looking forward to getting my favorite floral dress out of the closet again for the warmer weather – which may come as a surprise to people who know me personally, as I’m normally an avid jeans and trousers wearer.
This year, however, the floral dresses in stores are a lot more striking than usual. For 2026, the small floral prints we are used to have made way for bright colors and oversized motifs in striking, high-contrast shades – and M&S has the perfect ‘midaxi dress’ (a length that some say was invented by the retailer itself) that perfectly embraces the trend.
We spotted the perfect summer dress at M&S
With a citrus orange hue, striking pink flower details and subtle leaf accents, the dress is a fantastic one summer basic that immediately gives your wardrobe a fresh look.
This dress is designed to be flattering and has a regular, straight fit – a style that beautifully lengthens the silhouette thanks to the straight, narrow cut – combined with a flowy, draped skirt that looks particularly chic.
The dress also has long, flared sleeves, a subtle nod to the ’60s and ’70s. Good news if you like to keep your arms covered in the heat.
This dress might just be the one perfect summer dress and is suitable for countless occasions in the period from May to August. Think of summer weddings – abroad or here – nights out with friends and family, and whatever else is on your agenda.
