Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Portuguese national team and Al-Nassr Saudi Club, sent a message to his country’s fans, after the “Sailors” bid farewell to the Euro 2024 Championship, yesterday, Friday, at the hands of France on penalties, after the regular and extra time ended in a goalless draw.
Ronaldo posted pictures from the tournament on his social media account, “X”, and commented on them, saying: “We wanted to do more… We deserved more than that.”
He continued, addressing the fans: “We are grateful for everything you have given us, and for everything we have achieved so far on and off the pitch. I am sure this legacy will be honoured, and we will continue to build it together.”
Ronaldo ended his Euro campaign without scoring a goal, for the first time in his career.
“Don” was close to scoring during the round of 16 match against Slovenia, when he missed a penalty kick in extra time, which was saved by Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, Jan Oblak.
