A Spanish press report confirmed that Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz has made his final decision to represent the Moroccan national team.
According to the newspaper “Marca”, Diaz’s decision ended the possibility of him being called up to represent the Spanish national team, under the leadership of Luis de la Fuente.
She continued, “Diaz, who was born in Malaga and has Moroccan origins from his paternal grandmother, preferred to play for the Atlas Lions over the Matadors.”
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on his Twitter account that Diaz will play for Morocco and not Spain.
Romano continued, “The decision has been made, and it is expected to become official as soon as possible, and the Moroccan Federation was informed tonight.”
Diaz had previously communicated with Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain star, and the latter succeeded in convincing the Merengue player to represent Morocco.
Last year, the Moroccan Federation tried to convince Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona star, to represent the Lions, but the Barcelona talent preferred to play for the Matadors.
Lamine Yamal was born in Spain, to a Moroccan father and a mother from Equatorial Guinea, so he could have represented one of the three national teams, before preferring Spain in the end.
