
FRANCE 24 spoke to Tom Fletcher, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs. He reacted to US President Donald Trump’s controversial plan for the US to take over Gaza and to displace the Palestinian population to neighbouring countries. “There has been real concern across the humanitarian community about the risk of ethnic cleansing,” Fletcher said. Asked about the Trump administration suspending foreign aid, he warned that “we’ve got to find new supporters” to fund a $47 billion global shortfall in humanitarian aid.
