€50 via Bridging the Cap
How can a cap provide support to young adults with cancer? Well, a whole lot. F|Fort Foundation collaborated with fashion brands Martan and Affere to design two unique caps that will hopefully connect young adults with a cancer diagnosis.
F|Fort Foundation, founded by writer Floor van Liemt who died of lung cancer in 2021 at the age of 24, is committed to AYAs (young adults diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 18 and 39). The idea of ’Bridging the Cap’ came from, among other things Yoeki de Breeowner of fashion label Affêre, who himself is a cancer survivor. The idea was to make a cap for everyone, but mainly for those who have become bald due to chemo treatments and are looking for nice headgear. As an expert by experience, Yoeki was able to design two caps in the design process together with the Dutch fashion brand Martan that are slightly longer at the back for better coverage of the head, with a softer inner lining for the scalp.
The result is a red corduroy cap and a light green cap in the characteristic hotel linen fabric that Martan always works with. The second cap – the Cameron – is tied at the back, inspired by the act of how young people who lose their hair like to tie a scarf around their heads. The logo on the front of the cap is inspired by the style of Henri MatisseFloor van Liemt’s favorite artist.
The entire proceeds from the caps go directly to the F| Fort Foundation for developing new projects.
