Today, Friday, US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, repeated the warning of the administration of US President Joe Biden against Israel launching a major ground attack in Rafah.
Blinken confirmed before boarding the plane to leave, after a day of meetings with senior government officials in Tel Aviv, that “America shares Israel’s goal of liquidating the Palestinian Hamas movement and ensuring its long-term security, but the Rafah process “is not the appropriate way to achieve this.” According to the Times of Israel newspaper.
Blinken added on the stage of Ben Gurion Airport: “Invading Rafah risks killing more civilians, and risks causing greater chaos in the delivery of humanitarian aid. The move also risks isolating Israel further around the world, and endangers its security and standing in the long term.”
The US Secretary of State stressed in his statements that Washington will present a “different way” for Jerusalem to achieve its goals, when an Israeli delegation arrives in Washington next week.
Blinken continued: “It truly requires an integrated humanitarian, military and political plan.”
The visit of US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, to Tel Aviv, today, Friday, is the seventh since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip on the seventh of last October.
