Today, Wednesday, the Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Moayyed, met with the President of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin, who affirmed her support for the Commission’s efforts and its essential regulatory role in developing the telecommunications sector in Iraq.
A statement from the authority received by Al-Rasheed explained that “during the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the International Mobile Conference (MWC 2024) held in Barcelona, the fundamental role of regulatory bodies in developing the telecommunications sector, developing the telecommunications market, liberalizing infrastructure, and maintaining fair competition was discussed.”
He added, “Bogdan-Martin” praised the role played by the Communications and Media Commission in Iraq and affirmed its support for the Commission’s efforts to regulate and develop the communications and information technology sector, stressing that the Union looks forward to the Commission playing a major role in developing the communications sector in Iraq.
The statement continued, during the meeting, “they talked about the World Radiocommunication Conference WRC23 held in Dubai last December and the great achievements achieved by the State of Iraq.”
It is noteworthy that the International Mobile Conference (MWC 2024) is held annually in the month of February in Barcelona, and is considered the most prominent global event in the field of the mobile phone industry and advanced communications technology, in which senior companies, regulators and government officials from various countries of the world participate.
