The Football Association stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Olympic team continues its preparations today, Tuesday, at the transmission complex in the Qatari capital, Doha, in preparation for the friendly match against its Japanese counterpart, which will be held on the eleventh of this month, and this match is the last rehearsal for the team.” Before entering the Asian finals qualifying competitions for the Paris Olympics, the training was attended by a member of the Iraqi Football Federation, Ghanem Oraibi.
According to the statement, Al-Ittihad member Ghanem Oribi congratulated the training staff and players on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, wishing them success and success, and obtaining a ticket to the Olympics.
He explained: “The history of our football in the Olympics is wonderful, and it contains many positive aspects, and with the wonderful coaching staff and group of good players, we aspire to reach the Paris Olympics.”
Players Youssef Al-Imam, Amin Al-Hamwi, Buland Azad and Roman Dolacci participated in the training after their arrival in Doha at dawn on Tuesday, so the number of players who participated in the training was 17 players, with the hope that the rest of the players would join in succession after completing their commitment with their clubs.
The Olympic team coach, Radhi Shenaishil, focused in the training unit on the tactical aspects and application of defensive and offensive duties, while the goalkeeper coach, Saleh Hamid, focused on the importance of the correct position and movement of the goalkeeper in dealing with balls from different playing situations.
Omar Majbas, who suffers from a previous injury whose effects have been renewed, will be absent from training. He was presented to the specialist doctor, and after taking x-rays, it was found that he had an injury to the shoulder ligaments, making it impossible for him to participate in the training and the possibility of him not participating in the finals.
It is noteworthy that it was agreed between our Olympic team and its Japanese counterpart that the friendly match between them would be closed to the media and the public, based on the request of the Japanese coach and the approval of our team’s coach, Radhi Shenaishil.
