Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, called on the international community to take action to end the suffering of the Palestinian people from the scourges of Israeli racial discrimination committed by Tel Aviv on a daily basis.
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which falls on the twenty-first of March, Al-Budaiwi stressed the commitment of the GCC countries to the rights guaranteed by their national constitutions and legislation in the Declaration of Human Rights of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Al-Budaiwi referred to the second article of the declaration, which states: “People are equal in human dignity, rights and freedoms, and they are equal before the system (the law), and there is no discrimination between them on the basis of origin, sex, religion, language, color, or any other form of discrimination.”
Al-Budaiwi stressed the GCC countries’ respect for what is stated in the United Nations Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and their adoption of legislation, laws and procedures concerned with eliminating racial discrimination, rejecting hatred and intolerance, and promoting a culture of tolerance, coexistence, and the rule of justice and equality in their societies.
Al-Budaiwi pointed to the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip and the suffering of “the Palestinian people from persecution, discrimination, and apartheid based on domination, imposing restrictions, deprivation, discrimination, and a serious violation of human rights and general international law by the Israeli occupation forces.”
He stressed the need for the international community to take the necessary measures to “end the suffering of the Palestinian people from the scourges of Israeli racial discrimination committed on a daily basis against the Palestinian people.”
