Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received, at his residence in the American city of Houston, today, Thursday, a delegation from the Baker Institute for Energy Studies and Research, affiliated with Rice University in the United States.
During the meeting, cooperation mechanisms were discussed in the field of preparing studies, training, human development, qualifying cadres, and participating in preparing studies related to the oil market.
Al-Sudani pointed to the government’s plans to work on expanding the petrochemical industry through several projects, and to develop a plan to convert 40% of the exported oil into oil derivatives, stressing Iraq’s aspiration to increase and develop its oil exports, in a way that achieves balance and preserves the interests of producers and consumers.
For its part, the Baker Institute delegation expressed its readiness to cooperate with Iraq in the field of training leaders in the field of energy, and providing seats in graduate studies for Iraqi students in energy technology specializations. They also expressed their readiness to contribute to developing a comprehensive strategy for the Iraqi energy sector.
