The General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, held a special carnival for popular heritage and Ramadan heritage, entitled (Majina Ya Magina), in the presence of a large number of people who love this blessed Ramadan atmosphere.
The correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said, “The carnival that opened yesterday evening witnessed a remarkable presence from Iraqi families who crowded the museum’s gardens and halls. The carnival included participation from fashion shows and the Baghdadi heritage bazaar, in addition to the opening of the museum’s halls to visitors throughout the carnival show.”
The head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, Ali Obaid Shalgam, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that, “Under the direct supervision of the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, this blessed Ramadan carnival was held on the occasion of the birth of Imam Hassan (peace be upon him).”
He added: “This carnival came to highlight the Iraqi Mesopotamian heritage to the public, especially since human heritage concerns all of humanity and has an impact on all civilizations and religions.”
He pointed out that “the Iraqi Museum contains in its treasures large archaeological treasures that were prepared to be the focus of attention of the Iraqi public and Arab and foreign tourists within an atmosphere and context suitable for esteemed visitors.”
He explained, “It was the initiative of Prime Minister Engineer Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani to establish a new Iraqi museum to suit Iraq’s importance, status, value, and cultural heritage. Therefore, a suitable land of 110 dunums was allocated, located between the Unknown Soldier Monument and Al-Zawraa Gardens, and there are serious steps in completing this project, the opening of which we will celebrate soon.” “.
He stressed that “the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities has many excavation missions operating across Iraq from different nationalities and in different archaeological sites in order to explore and search for antiquities and trace them so that they are clearly visible through museums.”
He noted that “the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities will hold another heritage carnival next week in the old Qishla area in Baghdad.”
For her part, Director General of the Iraqi Museums Department, Lama Yas, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “We decided at the Iraqi Museum to hold and commemorate the carnival for the ancient Baghdadi Ramadan heritage and revive the night of the Magina.”
She added: “At the Iraqi Museum, we are accustomed to holding events related to antiquities, so we wanted to break the stereotype and hold a different exhibition concerned with heritage and old Baghdadi houses, and a fashion show related to Baghdadi heritage, in addition to bazaar displays in the gardens of the Iraqi Museum.”
She pointed out that “the old traditional customs began to decline, especially in recent years, so we wanted to bring that ancient atmosphere and its fragrance back to the forefront again by holding activities related to those legacies on the grounds of the Iraqi Museum in the presence of Iraqi families, especially in the month of Ramadan, which has its own rituals and atmosphere.” “Distinctive.”
