Fifty years after the first ZARA store
The very first Zara store plays a leading role in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the chain. Especially for this milestone, the location has been completely renovated into a temporary pop-up store. The renewed store is inspired by the typical galleries with balconies from the streets. Customers can shop and enjoy extras, including a Zacaffé room and a book angle with magazines from 1975.
In 1975, the first Zara store marked the switch from founder Amancio Ortega from textile production to its own retail. What started as one store in the Juan Flórez street in La Coruña, grew into a global brand with a turnover of 27.8 billion euros. Zara is now active online in 214 markets and physically present in 98 countries, with a total of 1,759 stores.
According to the management, over the past 50 years, a flexible approach is characterized: collections that move with the seasons, a manoeuvrable production and logistics, and shops at prime locations. Together with the ever -renewed online platform, these elements ensure that Zara responds to changing customer needs – then, now and in the future.
The anniversary collection of Zara
Zara also launches an anniversary collection, in black and white, as a nod to the classic tuxedo. The collection is available in selected stores and via Zara’s Online Shop.
