Bas Timmer launches a new brand: One.Of.Xx. Timmer is the founder of the Sheltersuit Foundation, with which he quickly gained fame. Now he explores the world of high fashion, according to a press release.
With the Sheltersuit Foundation he distributed high-quality upcycled jackets (which also serve as sleeping bags) to the homeless. The work was noticed by Gabriela Hearst, at the time creative director of French fashion house Chloé. Shortly afterwards, Sheltersuit and Chloé released a joint collection of backpacks and jackets.
In 2022, he debuted at Paris Fashion Week with a collection under the name of Sheltersuit Label.” Now Timmer is launching a new brand, separate from Sheltersuit. “One.Of.Xx comes from the idea that each piece is unique and part of a limited collection,” Timmer said in the press release. The new brand’s collection is made from dead fabric fabrics from French luxury fashion houses. “I personally select these fabrics in factories and warehouses in Portugal. We work exclusively with deadstock materials from French luxury fashion houses. Based on the number of square meters of fabric we find, we determine the quantities of the collection and create a limited, fully upcycled collection.”
The first collection will be launched in sneaker store Woei in Rotterdam on November 22, 2024. The brand is described as: “One.Of.Xx is for those who want to express their identity and understand that fashion and social impact go hand in hand. It is for the next generation who value exclusivity and sustainability, and who want to stand out while being part of something bigger. The XX varies per item, per drop, per collection – allowing each piece to tell its own story and create its own impact. Each garment is numbered, which gives a personal touch to each item.”
