Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos was called for action by La Liga after a Rayo Vallecano fan appeared to poke him in the back as he prepared for a throw-in.
The incident happened 33 minutes into Monday night’s La Liga match and the video quickly went viral on social media. Ocampos turned to the young fans to protest, then called the referee. The game was briefly paused, with some home fans laughing, while Leo players appealed for calm.
The unpleasant incident was the only blemish on an otherwise positive evening for Sevilla, who ended a six-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory in Vallecas and moved away from the relegation zone. Rayo are now just two points ahead of Monday’s opponents after suffering a fifth successive league defeat.
“You can see what’s going on Image,” Ocampos told broadcaster Dazn. “I hope La Liga takes this seriously, just like racism and these things. I don’t think all Leo people are like that because they always respect us, but there’s always a fool.”
“I hope this doesn’t happen in other areas because if it happens in women’s football we know what will happen,” the 29-year-old added. “I stayed calm because I have two daughters and I hope this doesn’t happen to them in the future.
“I hope the action that has to be taken has been taken and I hope such fools don’t tarnish an otherwise well-behaved group of fans.”
Through luck and some clinical finishing, Sevilla took the lead in the 19th minute. Issac Romero’s wayward pass beat the Rayo defender and into the path of Youssef En-Nesyri, who was on the edge of the box No mistakes were made.

Ten minutes later, Isi Parazon received a cross from the left from Alfonso Espino, and the home team equalized the score. One minute before half-time, Romero and En-Nesyri teamed up to score again, and the Moroccan forwards took all three points.
