In 2019, then-friends Rihanna and A$AP Rocky posed together at The Fashion Awards. Now, five years later, they are back as a couple and parents of two children.
Went out last night Rihanna and A$AP Rocky walked the carpet in London for the 2024 ceremony, both dressed in blue. Rihanna, as usual, opted for the more dramatic outfit, wearing a bright blue furry wrap coat with a black corset underneath.
The ensemble is one couture look by Christian Lacroix fall/winter 2002. She added black leather Paula Rowan opera gloves and a giant wide-brimmed turquoise hat. Rocky, in turn, was neatly dressed in a navy blue jacket and trousers with a red tie Bottega Veneta.
When the two attended the fashion event for the first time in 2019, wearing Rihanna a mind green outfit. A year later, in December 2020, it emerged that the couple was dating. A source said at the time People ‘that it was a new relationship and that they were both very happy’.
Spoke last April Rihanna of Interview about the history of her and A$AP Rocky as friends – and why they decided to take the plunge and explore their romantic potential. Things certainly changed at the end of 2019; they just kept it a secret for a year.
“We’ve known each other for a long time,” she explained. “I’ve seen him in relationships. He has seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships. We knew what we were capable of and what problems we could cause in each other’s lives. We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so we started dating with a lot of caution.”
She added: “I just let what had to happen happen. It was just, ‘This is a flower. It’s going to die or it’s going to bloom. But I’ll let it decide for itself.'”
