It’s been a few summers since bubble gum pink was the trend color and started popping up everywhere, but… Queen Letizia of Spain today shows why the shade deserves a comeback this season.
For an event at the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid, where she received the Lilly Foundation, the queen opted for a completely monochrome look in a cheerful shade of pink. She carried a shirt-style dress with a V-neck and button details at the front, finished with a layered skirt and rolled sleeve cuffs. Letizia combined the dress with a pink cord belt and pink espadrilles with wedge heel and anklets.
Even though it’s only Tuesday, the Spanish queen is already busy stylish week sit on. Last Saturday, she and her husband King Felipe and their daughters, Crown Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, welcomed Pope Leo XIV to Madrid at the start of his six-day visit to Spain.
The visit marks the first time Spain has hosted a pope in more than a decade. For that occasion, Letizia chose a white dress, a subtle reference to the so-called privilege du blanc. That special privilege gives only a handful of Catholic queens and princesses the right to meet the Pope in white, instead of the traditional black. Her daughters wore black outfits for the occasion.
A day later, the family attended a special mass with the Pope. Once again Letizia opted for white, this time in the form of a short-sleeved dress from Self-Portrait, one of Kate Middleton’s favorite brands. Because it was not an official audience with the Pope, Leonor and Sofía were allowed to deviate from it traditional black and choose soft pastel shades. A colorful choice that Letizia has clearly continued in her own look today.
