The Ministry of Planning announced today, Thursday, the dates for the start of the stages of the general population and housing census, while clarifying regarding the slums.
The Director of Baghdad Statistics at the Ministry of Planning, Khaled Walid, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry of Planning is starting the activities of the general census of population, housing and establishments,” noting that “the census includes all areas of Baghdad, urban and rural, whether random or industrial.”
He stressed that “there is no area outside the census,” explaining that “the slum areas are included in the population census and alternative solutions will be found based on them.”
He pointed out that “the census goes through three stages: the first stage (preparation), which is the preparation of educational cadres, which began on July 1st. The second stage (enumeration and numbering) begins after July 20th, and the third stage (counting) begins on November 20th.”
While the Assistant Director General of Planning and Follow-up in the Baghdad Municipality, Muhammad Mahdi Hussein, confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “We in the Baghdad Municipality will try to support the census process to all relevant parties through databases, numbering and stating all information related to housing and residential units that are within the boundaries of the Baghdad Municipality.”
He added, “We will be the supporting hand to complete this project.”
