The Dutch national team achieved a 2-1 victory against Turkey, on Saturday evening, in the quarter-finals of the European Nations Cup.
Turkey scored through Samit Akaydin in the 35th minute, while the Netherlands’ goals were scored by Stefan de Vrij and Gakpo in the 70th and 76th minutes.
With this victory, the Dutch team advances to the semi-finals to face the English team.
The match started with early pressure from the Netherlands, as Memphis Depay took off and fired a powerful shot that went over the crossbar in the first minute.
Depay received the ball deep in the penalty area, where he received it and shot, but goalkeeper Junok blocked it.
Xavi Simons shot from outside the area, but it went wide of the goal in the 11th minute.
Turkey’s first attempt on the Dutch goal came in the 20th minute, with a shot from Arda Guler inside the area, which reached goalkeeper Bart Verbogen’s arms.
Turkey’s defender, Samet Akaydin, scored the opening goal in the 35th minute, receiving a cross from the right side by Arda Guler, rising and heading it into the net.
Steven Bergwijn fired a shot from outside the area, but it went over the crossbar in the 42nd minute.
The first half ended with Türkiye leading by one goal to none.
At the beginning of the second half, Arda Guler almost scored the second goal for Turkey, in the 55th minute, with a shot from a free kick that hit the right post.
The response came quickly with a counterattack by the Netherlands, as Memphis Depay took off and shot the ball towards the Turkish goal, but goalkeeper Jonk caught it.
Dutch goalkeeper Verbruggen saved a shot from Kenan Yildiz from outside the penalty area in the 63rd minute.
Stefan de Vrij managed to score the equaliser for the Netherlands in the 70th minute, as he received a cross from the right side by Memphis Depay inside the penalty area, rose and headed the ball to the bottom left of goalkeeper Mert Gunok.
Gakpo quickly added the second goal for the Netherlands, receiving a cross from Dumfries from the right side and touching the ball inside the area to find the net in the 76th minute.
Arda Guler sent a cross from the right side, which reached Tosun, who shot the ball over the crossbar in the 84th minute.
Celik almost equalized for Turkey in the 85th minute, when he shot the ball past the goalkeeper, but the defense cleared it off the goal line.
The Dutch players fought bravely against the Turkish advance to achieve a draw, and the Dutch reached the semi-finals of the tournament.
