Amsterdam Fashion Week is increasingly getting a socially responsible touch. This was also the case during the RDVK Modespektakel in the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. During the spectacle, the Linda.foundation announced the Fashion.foundation.
The Fashion.foundation is a new online clothing platform where financially vulnerable families from the Netherlands can shop for free clothing, shoes and accessories. In this way, the Linda.foundation hopes to ‘contribute to a more positive self-image for people with financial worries’.
Presenter Noa Vahle, ambassador of Linda.foundation, emphasizes in a press release the importance of access to fashionable clothing for families in poverty. “When you live in poverty, you hardly have any room to choose, especially when it comes to clothing. The limited money that is available is usually spent on groceries. Thanks to Fashion.foundation, these families finally get the chance to choose clothes that they really like.”
Several brands have already joined. For example, Omoda, Mr Marvis and Most Wanted are part of the platform. Other clothing brands can still register.
The RDVK Fashion Spectacle by designer Ronald van der Kemp gave a new face to some of the donated clothing items. The show not only showed the reused clothes, there were also familiar faces to be seen such as Anouk Smulders, Susan Visser and Quinty Trustfull.
