The Land Forces Command confirmed, on Thursday, the continuation of preemptive operations to search for pockets of terrorist elements and strike them wherever they are found.
The commander of the ground forces, Lieutenant General Qasim Mohammed Saleh, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We visited the operations in eastern Salah al-Din Governorate, with the aim of inspecting the openness of the units, ensuring the defensive arrangements, and following up on the last pockets of terrorist elements and their hideouts in the mountainous areas, in addition to urging the units to complete the arrangements and inspect the administrative issues of the fighters and the readiness of the units and raising their combat readiness.”
He added, “The preemptive operations are continuing, as two days ago the forces killed terrorist elements on the border between Diyala and Salah al-Din, north of the Al-Azim Dam,” indicating that “the follow-up is ongoing by intelligence, drones, sources and agencies; in order to search and inspect the enemy in the existing hideouts and strike him wherever he is.”
