The representative of the Olympic Committee in Kirkuk announced that the Purebred Arabian Horse Festival will be held at four o’clock in the afternoon today, Monday, at the North Oil Sports Club stadium. This festival is the first of its kind in the governorate.

The head of the Olympic Committee’s representation in Kirkuk, Harbi Khaled, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Kirkuk Governorate is witnessing today the holding of the first sports festival related to equestrian sports, with the participation of 55 riders representing the governorates of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, and Diyala, in addition to Kirkuk,” indicating that “the festival includes a parade of Arabian horses.” Thoroughbreds, in addition to a number of other sporting events related to equestrianism.”
Khaled added, “Kirkuk has rural areas, and there is a great demand for practicing equestrian sports in all its regions. We are working to support these important hobbies by organizing and holding this festival to be an incentive for those who wish to practice this sport.”
