The Princess of Wales is no stranger to the world of perfectly cut clothing. Her wardrobe is filled with stylish suits from a variety of brands including Victoria Beckham, Alexander McQueen, M&S and Zara – many of which she wears again and again. For her most recent public appearance she chose her favorite suit from Roland Mouretonce again showing the power of one of her favorite silhouettes: the wide trousers.
Last Wednesday, during a visit to the University of East London, the princess wore Mouret’s camel suit for the third time, to mark the launch of a new company for professionals who work with babies, young children and their families. Where she previously combined the suit with a T-shirt, this time she opted for it a white blouse. She completed her look with brown pumps with pointed noses from Ralph Lauren, gold heart shaped earrings and a gold alphabet chainboth by Daniella Draper. However, it was her high-waisted, wide trouser legs that stole the show.
In 2026 there is an abundance of trouser models to choose from: slim fit, straight, bootcut, cropped – the list is endless. But the princess’s latest look proves just how powerful a good pair of wide pants can be in taking an outfit to the next level and creating a flattering silhouette.
The Roland Mouret trousers that the princess wears are called the Cady suit trouser. These pants sit high at the waist and fall generously along the legs lengthening effect. The trousers are a perfect example of Kate’s sophisticated daytime style and, whether paired with the matching jacket or worn casually with a T-shirt or loose silk shirt, can form the basis of an elegant everyday wardrobe.
Although Kate’s exact pants are no longer available for purchase, there are other equally stylish options. Next for example, has wide trousers that do not hide the legs and are very flattering in combination with high heels. The Mason Pant by Reformation is, on the other hand, slightly looser, making it ideal to wear at the waist with a belt and to combine with a nice loafer. The linen trousers from M&S has a similar fit to the Reformation model, and the light fabric comes in handy during the warmer months. Each model is as elegant as the other.
The princess is currently preparing for her first royal trip abroad since her cancer diagnosis. Next week she will travel to Italy with the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood. This is an important milestone, as it is her first longer official foreign visit in almost three and a half years.
