Nederland slaat alarm om ‘psittacose’, ook wel bekend als de papegaaienziekte. Sinds eind vorig jaar zijn al 21 patiënten in het ziekenhuis opgenomen, van wie er één overleed. Ook Duitsland, Oostenrijk, Zweden en Denemarken zien de laatste maanden een toename, meldt de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO). In Denemarken overleden al vier mensen. Maar wat is psittacose en hoe ernstig is de situatie?
