Dakota Johnson plays a matchmaker who can’t seem to find “the one” for herself in Materialists, the new movie from Oscar-nominated writer-director Celine Song. Called a “refreshingly complex look at modern love” by THR‘s David Rooney, the critic-favorite film is now available to watch online.
Before it streams on demand on HBO Max, Materialists is available to buy or rent online on digital in 4K Ultra HD starting at $19.99 at Prime Video, Apple TV and elsewhere.

Where to Stream Materialists Online
Distributed by A24, Materialists is expected to stream on HBO Max when the romantic comedy’s current theatrical run is over sometime in late August or early September.
Until then, Materialists is available to rent in 4K Ultra HD for $19.99, or to buy for $24.99 on Prime Video, Apple TV and other video-on-demand platforms. Tickets to see the film in theaters are still available at fandango.com and elsewhere.
When the Materialists eventually arrives on HBO Max, a subscription will be required to watch on demand. The streaming service starts at $9.99 per month with ads and is available as a Prime Video channel and on DirecTV.

Materialists: Plot, Cast, Run Time
Directed by Celine Song, Materialists follows Lucy (Dakota Johnson), a matchmaker who’s known for connecting perfect couples — except when it comes to herself. She’s caught between her perfect match Harry (Pedro Pascal) and her obnoxious ex-boyfriend John (Chris Evans).
The movie also stars Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Emmy Wheeler, Louisa Jacobson and others. It runs at one hour and 57 minutes.
