The first official photos of the Princess of Wales following abdominal surgery have been released to mark Mother’s Day.
On Sunday morning, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted a photo of Catherine sitting in a chair surrounded by their three children on their social media accounts, along with a message thanking well-wishers for their support.
“Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the past two months,” the message read. “Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. C.”
Kensington Palace said the photo was taken by the Prince of Wales in Windsor earlier this week.
Catherine has been recovering from abdominal surgery since January 29 and is expected to be back until at least Easter.
She is recovering at Adelaide Cottage near Windsor Castle. Prince William has temporarily withdrawn from some official engagements to help care for her and look after their children.
On January 16, she was taken to the London Clinic, the private hospital where King Charles was treated for an enlarged prostate, for planned surgery.
Catherine’s long absence from the public eye has sparked online speculation about her whereabouts and health.
Last week, it was reported that she would take part in a Color Parade in June, but the military later removed the news from its website because it was apparently published without the approval of Kensington Palace .
The princess was spotted near her home in Windsor, with a photo circulating online showing her wearing sunglasses and sitting in the front seat of a car driven by her mother, Carole Middleton.
Details of the princess’ condition have not been revealed, but Kensington Palace has previously said it is not cancer-related and that Kate wishes to keep her personal medical information private.
