Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli leadership alone bear responsibility for escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The Turkish President added during a press conference in Ankara following a ministerial meeting, “Israel is trying to spark a regional conflict, and its attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus is the latest example.”
He said that new regional conflicts were possible as long as “brutality and genocide” continued in the Gaza Strip, and called on all parties to act wisely.
He also criticized the West for denouncing Iran’s attack, and not denouncing Israel’s attack on the Iranian embassy.
It should be noted that Iran attacked Israel with hundreds of drones and missiles last Saturday, in response to the Israeli aircraft targeting the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, which led to the killing of a number of Revolutionary Guard officers.
