A dreamy collection, born from the fusion of young talent and established fashion expertise.
Belgian retailer LolaLiza proudly presents a unique collection by promising Belgian talent Pol Vogels, who sees his creative vision come to life thanks to his participation in the LolaLiza Fashion School. This competition, organised by Belgian label LolaLiza, offers young designers not only an exclusive look behind the scenes of the brand, but also the rare opportunity to create and market their own dresses. The result is a stunning collection that combines Pol’s fresh, youthful energy with LolaLiza’s trendy and accessible style.
The LolaLiza x Pol Vogels collection introduces three fresh designs: a blue dress, a casual yellow dress, and a light pink dress with a cape. Pol Vogels expresses his love of color and nature, inspired by the versatility of fauna and flora, of birds and flowers. Subtle references to the Belgian flag – blue, yellow, and pink – give his creations a unique twist. The collection shows how Vogels transforms personal stories into stylish, energetic fashion, and gives the iconic LolaLiza floral dress a contemporary update.
“My designs are always inspired by birds and their symbolism. As a child I grew up in a family of pigeon fanciers, and my last name is literally ‘Birds’. The blue dress for example refers to the nine-to-five office job, with the pigeons symbolizing city life and the forget-me-nots emphasizing the importance of the people in offices who work long hours,” says Pol Vogels.
From competition to creation
Pol Vogels was excited to experience the entire fashion process up close, from fabric selection to pattern development and finishing. He had long harboured the ambition to experiment with prints and saw LolaLiza as the perfect partner to embark on this creative adventure. Although his roots lie in menswear, he saw this project as a unique opportunity to push his boundaries. The Fashion School offered Pol the perfect platform to present his vision, and he was delighted to see that the jury was completely convinced by his designs.
The LolaLiza Fashion School competition began with a careful pre-selection, where portfolios were assessed on creativity, technical skills and the ability to translate concepts into wearable fashion. Ten talented designers then took on the challenge of creating three distinctive dresses that fully embody the LolaLiza DNA. An expert jury of five fashion experts was tasked with determining which designer best achieved the combination of innovation, aesthetics and craftsmanship.
“It’s great to see how Pol Vogels’ imaginative world merges with LolaLiza’s universe in this collection. His colorful prints and dreamy silhouettes can also be worn in surprisingly versatile ways, depending on the styling or accessories. It’s very inspiring that LolaLiza gives young fashion talent a chance, while at the same time giving their own label a new impulse,” says jury member Stefan Ceunen, lead marketing communications & PR manager at Flanders DC.
A colorful fusion
The collaboration with LolaLiza turned out to be a great success. Pol says enthusiastically: “The entire team really pulled out all the stops to bring my designs to life. I am quite critical and pay attention to every detail, so if a colour is not quite perfect, I quickly ask for a new colour sample.” For one of the dresses, even the manufacturer was specially adapted to perfect the design down to the last detail.
Annelien Alaerts, Marketing Manager at LolaLiza, adds: “Pol’s cheerful and colourful world fits seamlessly with LolaLiza’s DNA. He chose birds and flowers in his designs, with the birds perfectly representing his identity and the flowers emphasising our cheerful character. A must-have for every fashionista who wants to support Belgian talent and fashion. We are proud of this laureate of the Fashion School and look back on a great collaboration in which creativity and inclusivity are central.”
The capsule collection is available in limited editions from today at selected LolaLiza stores and online. Prices range from 99.99 to 160 euros.
