On Thursday, April 2, both the professional and public prizes from the Shopping Awards were presented. As always, the Shopping Awards focuses on ‘the best online stores in the Netherlands’. This year was the twenty-fifth edition of the awards ceremony.
Two well-known companies received (professional) prizes. Decathlon took home the DS Smith Sustainability Award. “Decathlon makes circularity concrete and scalable with the fully integrated Second Life range. By making second-hand products part of the customer journey, sustainable consumption becomes accessible and self-evident. Initiatives such as repair, buy-back and eco-design strengthen that impact for a wide audience,” the jury said in the press release.
Zalando took home the PostNL Innovation & AI Award. “Zalando is a technological leader with the Virtual Fitting Room, which addresses an important problem in fashion e-commerce. The solution helps consumers easily choose the right size and demonstrably contributes to reducing returns. Zalando thus combines customer value, innovation and sustainability in one strong business case,” according to the argument.
In addition to professional prizes, audience prizes were also awarded. These winners are determined based on public votes and expert ratings.
About You won in the women’s and men’s fashion category. Zeeman took home the prize for baby and children’s fashion. Dutchies emerged as the winner in the jewelers and fashion accessories category. VanHaren was at the top in the shoe category and Wehkamp took home the prize in the department stores.
