SS26 is full of color trends and various styles, according to the Creamoda webinar. Trend analyst Laura Buydaert of the fashion federation explains the trends before the summer of 2026 on the basis of the predictions of WGSN, Coloro, Francq Colors and with his own input. A fan of trends is found, containing four macro trends.
“2026 is the year of reorientation,” it says. With that reorientation there is a significant influence of escapism, rebellion, frivolity and metamorphosis.
RE-IMAGINING SCI-FI
It is already reflected in many trend forecasts of experts: the uncertainty about the future keeps people and consumers busy. It is of course for people to try to fill in that uncertainty and to create their own vision of the future. What that future looks like is different for everyone.
“There is designed for a utopia,” explains Buydaert. This creates futuristic designs, but also something that the trend analyst calls ‘PrepareWear’. They want to protect themselves against the possible end of the world and daydreams over a temporary reality. People need cocooning, hiding, but finding comfort in it.
Dark Romance
Two of the four macrot trends that designate fashion federation Creamoda are full of historical references. Dark Romance is one of this. Think of traditional silhouettes but with a mysterious appearance. “It has a Gothic edge,” Buydaert explains. One of the microtrends for SS26 is called ‘Goddess of Goth’. This should not be considered of classic gothic subculture, but ‘goth glamor’ where, for example, the designs of fashion brands Rick Owens and Ann Demeulemeester predominate. “Asymmetrical volumes, but with a polished feeling”.
With the decorations you can further focus on the use of flowers – specific roses. Are you looking for a personification of this trend? Then look at the character Wednesday Addams from the 2022 series by Tim Burton.
Technocraft
This trend is also future -oriented, but then combines modern and technological materials with craftsmanship. Think of neuro-aesthetic design in which clothing becomes an extension of the emotion. Buydaert calls the designs of Jasna Rok that work through brain waves. Avantgardistic designs that combine technical innovation, daring designs and craftsmanship. With portable technology, the Trend Technocrraft is not only visually striking, but also functional. They are items that contribute to your physical health.
Vintage Voyage
The attentive fashion enthusiast may have spotted the influence of the 50s and 70s in the past seasons. The styles experience a revival, but are put into a contemporary jacket. “Vintage influences get more cultural power.” Consider, for example, Alessandro Michele’s first collection at Valentino.
With this trend it is important that the items are transcending season and almost timeless. It retains the vintage charm, but fits in with the here and now. “It is a thoughtful remix of elements.”
