On the catwalks, designers are currently showing the trends for spring/summer 2026, but the trend researchers from WGSN and their color -specialized sister company Coloro are one step ahead. The duo is already looking towards Autumn/Winter 2027/28 and published its four predicted key colors on Wednesday.

In the midst of the persistent uncertainties of a global poly crisis, the key colors for autumn/winter 2027/28 respond to the needs of consumers in stability and direction. They thereby reflect a wide range of emotions and focus on the interplay of contrasting nuances, which are not only aesthetically attractive, but also transfer a feeling of comfort and innovation.

“Because we continue to live worldwide in a time of unpredictability and uncertainty, the emotions and feelings of consumers play a crucial role in the color choice for autumn/winter 2027/28,” said Clare Smith, Senior Color Strategist at WGSN. “Every key color forms the basis for effective color communication, from feelings of freedom and expression to trust and security.”

The four key colors for fall/winter 27/28

The key colors for autumn/winter 2027/28 are again selected from Coloro’s extensive color palette of more than 3,500 shades, according to the message. For autumn/winter 2027/28, Russet, Peaceful Lilac, Maize and Deep Green are central.

Russet – Coloro code: 013—30—24

Russet is a warm reddish -brown reminiscent of autumn landscapes and ripening fruit. The color must give a sense of stability and trust, especially in uncertain times. The color is experienced as particularly powerful because it is associated worldwide with certainty, courage and reliability.

Peaceful Lilac – Coloro code: 135—78—11

This soft lilac forms a conscious counterpart of the dark shades of the season. The color looks modern and light futuristic, with subtle hints of electronic music and creative expression. According to the color experts, Peaceful Lilac Consumers should help to aim their energy both inside and out.

Maize – Coloro code: 036—65-23

Maize brings a radiant yellow shade into the palette, which radiates both warmth and brightness. The color symbolizes joy and optimism and at the same time appeals to the growing consciousness for sustainability and respectful handling of raw materials. The versatility makes the color suitable for different materials and seasons.

Deep Green – Coloro code: 082—30—14

Deep Green combines elegance with a mysterious, almost natural depth. The shade acts as an alternative to black, is universally applicable and supports the current trend to inclusive design. At the same time, the color appeals to consumers who look for both strength and thoughtfulness in their looks.
