The Civil Defense Directorate announced today, Friday, that it had controlled a fire that broke out inside a furniture showroom, a coffee shop, and several shops in the Euphrates neighborhood in central Najaf Governorate.
The Directorate explained in a statement received by “Al-Rasheed” that “its teams were mobilized and sent specialized fire engines and other support vehicles to combat the fires from several axes, and used the ladder wheel designated for tall buildings from top to bottom, with support from the basins of the Al-Abbas’s shrine and the Najaf Ashraf Municipality.”
She added, “The damaged buildings were constructed with highly flammable sandwich panels that violate the safety instructions issued by the Civil Defense Directorate.”
She added, “Civil Defense requested an investigation to be opened at the police station responsible for the area and to summon a forensic expert to determine the causes of the fire and hold accountable those responsible for violations related to occupational safety procedures.”
