Chanel has taken its first step into the world of wearables with the launch of the Première Sound watch. This innovative timepiece, which can also be worn as a necklace, combines luxury with technology by offering integrated wired headphones, a microphone and remote control functionality. With this, Chanel marks its entry into the emerging market for smart accessories.
The Première Sound was developed under the direction of Arnaud Chastaingt, the director of Chanel’s watchmaking studio. In collaboration with audio specialist Master & Dynamic, who is known for its collaborations with other luxury brands, Chanel successfully combined its craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.
This launch fits into a broader trend within the luxury sector, where traditional brands are adapting to the needs of a digitally oriented audience. The Première Sound watch is likely to appeal to affluent consumers who value both the prestige of a luxury brand and the functionality of modern technology.
The introduction of what some industry experts are calling “luxury audio jewelry” could redefine the line between high fashion and technology, highlighting the luxury industry’s ongoing efforts to stay relevant to younger generations who value both innovation and heritage.
The Première Sound watch will be available from September 2 and is expected to cost €14,800.
