Baghdad/NinaThe Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the date of the draw for the preliminary round of the qualifiers for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco in 2025.
CAF indicated in a statement on its official website today that the draw for the 2025 African Cup of Nations will be held at noon tomorrow, Tuesday, in Cairo.
The statement explained that the preliminary round will be held with the participation of the 8 lowest ranked teams in the FIFA classification, which are Somalia, Djibouti, Sao Tome, Chad, Mauritius, South Sudan, Liberia and Eswatini.
The matches of this round will be held in a home-and-away system during the international break from next March 18 to 26, and 4 teams will qualify to join the 44 teams to complete the group stage of the qualifiers.
The final qualifiers will be held by dividing 48 teams into 12 groups, with 4 teams in each group, with the first and second qualifying directly to the finals.”
The Côte d’Ivoire national team won the last edition, which it hosted on its territory, after defeating Nigeria in the final match with a score of (2-1) this February.
Morocco will host the African Cup of Nations for the second time after hosting the sixteenth edition, which was held in 1988./End 2
