Inspiration or plagiarism? British designer Diana Al Shammari believes that the latter is seen at Antwerp football club Beerschot.
Al Shammari is known on Instagram as ‘Thefootballgal’. On her account she enriches football shirts with embroidery. In the past she has worked with the Red Devils, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Adidas. Now the same kind of embroidery has appeared on the shirt of Beerschot. According to Al Shammari there is a copying.
The designer mentions the performance of Beerschot under the Instagram post of the football club ‘Bad, Lazy and not creative’. She is disappointed that no credit or cooperation has been sought. “It is one thing if random factories in China do this, but it is something else if a professional club does this. It is Genant,” said the designer on Instagram.
The CEO of the company behind the shirts of Beerschot responds under the message of Al Shammari that they have contacted the designer for a collaboration, but have not received an answer. The company then continued on its own. Shammari insists on a scheme with Beerschot, but if it does not come, she will take legal steps.
