The spring/summer 2027 edition of London Fashion Week, scheduled from September 17 to 21, will mark the return of Alexander McQueen and Mulberry.
The British Fashion Council, led by director Laura Weir, announces the preliminary schedule for the September showcase. Alexander McQueen creative director Seán McGirr makes his LFW debut with a show featuring both the SS27 men’s and women’s collections. At the same time, British heritage brand Mulberry returns under the creative direction of Christopher Kane, who presents his debut collection for the house.
Gianfranco D’Attis, director of Alexander McQueen, joined the luxury brand in June. In a statement on McQueen’s move from Paris Fashion Week to London, he said: “McQueen’s return to London Fashion Week is a meaningful moment for the house.
“London is where our story began and remains central to our identity. We are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the British Fashion Council and the city’s extraordinary creative ecosystem, while continuing to build on McQueen’s legacy and shape its future.”
Andrea Baldo, director of heritage brand Mulberry, says London “has long been a global platform for creativity and culture, making it the ideal place to debut the Mulberry by Christopher Kane collection.”
Both McQueen and Mulberry will show their collections on Sunday, September 20.
The British heavyweights join the likes of Burberry, which closes LFW on Monday, September 21. Erdem, Richard Quinn, Roksanda and Simone Rocha will also return in September. The five-day showcase also includes Patrick McDowell, Harris Reed, Aaron Esh, Ashley Williams, Chopova Lowena, Knwls and Paolo Carzana.
London Fashion Week SS27 takes place from September 17 to 21
Weir added: “This season marks an exciting moment for London Fashion Week, with the return of leading British brands alongside an exceptional new generation of creative talent.
“The scheme reflects the confidence and momentum of British fashion today, bringing together established houses, emerging designers and industry partners on a platform that continues to shape global fashion. Together they confirm London’s position as the global home of creativity and a catalyst for innovation, opportunity and growth.”
The September edition also features several debuts from Francesca Lake, Gui Rosa and Petra Fagerström as part of the BFC NewGen program. They present alongside returning participants including Charlie Constantinou, EWUsie, Liza Keane, Octi, Oscar Ouyang, Pauline Dujancourt, The Ouze and Yaku.
Other new names on the schedule this season include new-generation British menswear label Geordie Campbell, Chinese designer Joyce Bao, New Delhi contemporary fashion label Lovebirds and demi-couture brand Onalaja.
LFW also sees the return of talent incubator Fashion East, following the recent announcement that the BFC is making additional investment in its talent support program ‘in recognition of the vital role they play in the talent pipeline’. The schedule also includes a Birmingham City University showcase.
There will also be an immersive presentation from London-based technical menswear brand JL-AL, founded by British designer Jean-Luc Ambridge Lavelle. This will be followed by an afterparty to celebrate the launch of the collaboration with Puma. In addition, the Paul Smith Foundation’s American designer-in-residence 5000 unveils his new collection through an immersive ‘sound bath’, creating a multi-sensory experience where fashion, art and music come together.
Alongside luxury names and emerging designers, high street brand Marks and Spencer is making its LFW debut. It celebrates its centenary with an exclusive ‘see now, buy now’ catwalk collection for women’s and men’s fashion.
Stuart Machin, director at M&S, said: “This is a special moment; M&S fashion has been part of everyday life for a hundred years, and now we are showing our designs on the global fashion stage.
“At M&S we focus on designing clothes with style, quality and value, and making fashion accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re streaming our show, bringing one of the world’s leading fashion weeks and the magic of M&S to everyone. Customers can buy the collections online or in M&S stores across the UK.”
H&M returns with ‘a bold reconceptualization of the fashion show experience’, with a special event in collaboration with photographer Nick Knight and ShowStudio.
In a statement earlier this month, H&M promised its LFW event would “shake things up” while also democratizing fashion.
Other activations include a jewelery showcase at Dover Street Market and a catwalk show focusing on pre-loved items by Ebay. Selfridges spotlights a curated selection of British designers.
