On Thursday afternoon, the Antwerp brand Bernadette opened a new chapter in its history with her first fashion show in Paris. An emotional moment for Bernadette and Charlotte de Geyter, the mother-daughter duo behind the brand, who spoke FashionUnited Backstage.
A stone’s throw from the Galeries Lafayette, one of their points of sale, Bernadette unveiled an autumn-winter collection 2025 in which Glamor merges with both evening and daily clothing. Wrap dresses with bare shoulders, glittering sweaters knotted around the neck and voluminous dresses paraded in pastel shades that perfectly matched the pure, completely white setting.
“We were ready,” Charlotte confirms, with tears in her eyes, when we ask why they chose to organize their first show before 2025. “Many things led to this moment. We had an inspiration and we were ready. It’s good for the brand and for us.”
The young brand, launched just before the COVID-19 Pandemie, offers a wardrobe with a couture elegance. The classic character of the long evening dresses in Taft and the finesse of the flower prints has already conquered a wide network of retailers, from Moda Operandi to Net-A-Porter, from France to the United States, via Mexico and Spain.
A first shoe line
The autumn winter collection 2025 was the opportunity for Bernadette to enter a new market: shoes. “We are introducing new categories with each collection,” explains Charlotte, who describes the shoe line as timeless and elegant, and that “fits perfectly with the dresses and silhouettes.”
To the question ‘How is the brand’, Charlotte answers: “Very well. We are slowly building up the brand and it is getting better and better. It really develops in a positive and healthy way. We think in steps and see what works for us.” By her side, Bernadette adds: “We succeed in reaching our customers and that makes us happy.”
