Baghdad Al-Rusafa Police Command announced today, Friday, the arrest of a suspect who killed an Iraqi army officer in the capital.
A statement by the command received by Al-Rasheed stated that “after receiving news of a shooting incident against an officer with the rank of colonel in the Iraqi army inside his home, the detachments of the Baghdad Al-Rusafa Police Command, represented by the Al-Zafaraniya Police Department, headed to the scene of the incident, to form a specialized work team.”
He added, “Information was collected, the investigation was deepened, and surveillance cameras were monitored. It was found that there was an immoral relationship (adultery) between the accused and the victim’s wife, and that the perpetrator shot her husband inside his house while he was returning and fled.”
The statement continued, “The perpetrator of the crime was arrested in record time after setting up a tight ambush for him in the Souq Shalla area in the Al-Shaab area, and he was placed in detention in accordance with the provisions of Article 405 of the Penal Code to complete the legal procedures against him.”
