Feyenoord manager Arne Slott has confirmed for the first time that he will succeed Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager.
Slott’s deal to replace Klopp has been in effect for three weeks but has yet to be officially announced, while Liverpool prepare to see off their legendary manager at Anfield on Sunday. However, speaking at a press conference on Friday, Slaughter said: “I can confirm that I will be a trainer there next year.
“Until now I didn’t think this was the preparation for my last game, but now it starts. At the beginning of the week you think about training and things like that. But now the feeling is getting stronger. That’s why I am now a bit late [for the press conference]because I wanted to say goodbye to some people in person and spend time with them, not just shake hands.
“So, yes, the feeling is growing. I know the good results will help, but it’s nice to feel that people actually think it’s a shame that I’m leaving.

Liverpool are expected to announce the appointment next week, when Klopp ends his eight-and-a-half-year reign at Wolves and Sloter’s contract and compensation package with Feyenoord are also agreed. The Dutch club will receive €9m (£7.7m) plus €2m in add-ons for the manager who won last season’s Eredivisie title and this season’s KVNB Cup.
Sloter’s assistant coach at Feyenoord, Sipke Hurshov, resigned from his position as Netherlands assistant coach this week and is expected to follow him to Anfield to start pre-season training with Liverpool.
Feyenoord confirmed Slott’s departure, posting a video on X and saying: “The Arne Slott era is coming to an end. Let’s enjoy the last moments.
