American health experts have revealed a way to detect dehydration using the fingers.
According to what they indicated, “the method involves pinching the skin with the fingers of the hand in the abdominal area or the front part of the hand, or the skin on the chest below the collarbone for a few seconds, while holding the fingers in place during the pinching.”
They added, “After pressing on the skin for a few seconds, release it, and if it returns to its normal position immediately, this means that the moisture in your body is good, while the opposite indicates dryness.”
They stressed that “this scientific method helps the skin maintain collagen, which is the protein that provides structure and strength to the skin, muscles and bones. Skin elasticity can also decrease with age, regardless of the amount of water you drink.”
They explained that “other signs of dehydration include (extreme thirst, decreased urination, dark urine, fatigue, dizziness, and confusion).”
Doctors recommend that “men drink 15.5 cups of water per day (3.7 liters) and women 11.5 cups (2.7 liters).”
