The United Nations said that the obstacles that Israel places in the way of delivering food to the Gaza Strip are the largest compared to the other measures it imposes to obstruct the arrival of aid in general.

This came in a statement made by Jens Laerke, spokesman for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), on Tuesday, according to the Palestinian Wafa News Agency.
Laerke stressed that the disruption of food supplies to the Gaza Strip coincides with a famine looming on the Strip’s horizon, noting that the rate of rejection of food supplies heading to the northern Gaza Strip is three times the rejection rates faced by other humanitarian aid.
The UN spokesman said that 70 percent of the population of the northern Gaza Strip are facing famine-like conditions.
He pointed out that the statistics reported by the “Cogat” Authority of the Israeli army regarding aid are meaningless, pointing out that the trucks being talked about do not carry more than half of their capacity, which means that the number of trucks does not reflect the volume of aid that actually reaches the Strip.
