EXCLUSIVE: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Xochitl Gomez and Latin Grammy nominated and Rebelde star Maite Perroni are set to lead No Te Olvides, an original musical film from producers Tony Estrada (The Mother, Menacer and Me) and Kristina Rivera (The Mule, Sully), with High School Musical: The Musical:The Series director Kimberly McCullough directing.
Production is set to start this fall.
Written by Nerris Nevarez-Nassiri, No Te Olvides (Don’t Forget) is an intergenerational story that follows three generations of Mexican-American women on a journey that sparks healing, humor, and unexpected romance. The film centers on María (Gomez), a closeted twenty-something Chicana who—against the wishes of her workaholic mother, Celestina (Perroni)—sets out to fulfill her grandmother’s dying wish: to return to the rural Mexican village where she was born before Alzheimer’s erases her memories for good. Perroni will play the role of Celestina.
The project reps the inaugural feature from Estrada’s purpose-driven entertainment and wellness development company, Con Ganas. Kristina Rivera produces alongside Estrada, with Peter and Fernando Bandera of Bandera Brothers Entertainment serving as executive producers.
Gomez landed the lead character in 2020’s The Baby-Sitters Club. She is well-known for her turn as America Chavez, a Latin-American superhero in Marvel Studios’ $955M-plus global grossing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Gomez has worked with global brands from Garnier to Adidas. After being a longtime partner, it was announced in February 2024 that she was named Chief Style Officer for Social Collision, a brand under Hot Topic. Recently, she starred on Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars, where she won the first ever Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy with her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. Upcoming, she will star opposite Bill Hader in Warner Bros. Animation movie The Cat in the Hat, which is set to release March 2026.
Perroni’s latest series, Triptych, has the actress playing three main characters. It hit No. 1 for non-English TV series worldwide on Netflix and was on the Top 10 most watched shows in 80 countries. She counts 36M followers on social media. In 2023, the award-winning actor, singer, and producer reunited with her
co-stars from the telenovela Rebelde for a world tour that became the most successful international tour ever in Spanish, grossing more than $130M in the USA alone. She has starred in dozens of Telenovelas, and received numerous awards for her acting and music, including two Grammy Award noms, as well as gold & platinum records. She is anomaly among female Latin actresses, counting three major streaming series worldwide: Game of Keys (Prime Video), Herederos Por Accidente Herederos Por Accidente (Claro Video) & Dark Desire (Netflix).
