Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez announced his departure from coaching the Catalan team after the end of the current season.

Barcelona suffered a severe defeat at home against Villarreal, with a score of 5-3, on Saturday, in the matches of the 22nd round of La Liga.
This defeat came a few days after losing the Spanish Super Cup and bidding farewell to the Spanish Cup.
Xavi said, in statements highlighted by the Catalan newspaper “Sport”: “On June 30, I will not continue as coach of Barcelona… I think this is the correct situation.”
He added: “The club needs a change in dynamic. We are playing with a lot of tension. The best thing is to leave.”
He continued: “In the remaining months, we can have a good season. This is the message I would like to give, with peace of mind when making this decision and with the right thought more about the club than myself.”
He continued: “I think this decision alleviates the situation. A very good job has been done, but I think my project should only continue until June 30.”
He continued: “I thought about the club, and I feel good. I decided a few days ago, but I somehow freed myself.”
He concluded: “The club will always exist. I want to be a solution, and I think the best thing to do now is to leave next June 30. This is how we agreed with the president, and he is wonderful. He is moving forward, and everyone is as well.”
