WhatsApp has launched a new feature that helps communicate voice messages better in noisy environments.
With more than two billion users around the world, WhatsApp now allows users to convert their voice messages into written text, making it easier to read them rather than listen to them, especially in crowded or quiet places where you do not want to hear conversations out loud.
Once you press and hold the voice message, the written copy will appear below the message. This version shows the content of the message accurately and can be read directly instead of hearing it, which makes it easier to benefit from the conversation in different environments.
While this new feature may raise users’ concerns about security, WhatsApp, the company owned by Meta, has reassured users of its application that voice messages will remain fully encrypted from end to end in the same way approved by WhatsApp in All conversations.
This means that although WhatsApp transcribes the voice note, the company cannot actually hear or read the contents of the message. No one else can see the content of the messages, not even hackers or the police.
The company explained that the new feature will be available on Android and iOS phones around the world in the next few weeks.
To get this feature, you must first ensure that you are using the latest version of WhatsApp.
To activate or disable it, go to Settings in WhatsApp, then choose Chats, then click on the Voice message transcripts feature. From here, you can also select the language for automatic transcription.
