The Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazem, confirmed today, Sunday, the progress of the Baghdad Metro project, while noting that the development of highways will begin.
The General Directorate of Relations and Media in the Baghdad Municipality stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “The Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kadhim, met with the Chairman of the Baghdad Provincial Council, Ammar Al-Qaisi, and the Governor of Baghdad, Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi, to discuss joint cooperation in providing the best services to the people of the capital.”
She added, “The Mayor of Baghdad, during his meeting with the President of the Provincial Council and the Governor of Baghdad, offered congratulations on the occasion of the formation of the local government and their assumption of their work duties, and cooperation was discussed for joint work in serving the areas of the city of Baghdad and improving its reality.”
The Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazem, said, according to the statement: “The Municipality of Baghdad and the Baghdad Governorate are two service bodies that complement each other, and we are proceeding with the implementation of the government program in light of this joint cooperation and in light of the directives of the Prime Minister.”
He stressed that “the work between the Baghdad Municipality and the Provincial Council must be integrated in order to provide service projects that meet the needs of citizens, especially in the water, sanitation, and roads sectors.”
He continued, “This integration was achieved in serving agricultural residential areas through the effort of the service and engineering team of the Council of Ministers, and that the Prime Minister is supportive of the Baghdad Municipality and that his government is a services government.”
He stated that “there are efforts being made in cooperation with many ministries, with government support, to implement large service projects, most notably projects for relieving traffic congestion, new cities, the Baghdad metro, and producing electrical energy through treating and burning waste.”
He explained that “the members of the Provincial Council represent the regions and neighborhoods of the city of Baghdad and bear the requirements of its residents, and we will work in a team spirit to achieve them,” noting that “the government indicates that the service standard is the evaluation standard for executive agencies.”
He pointed out that “the Baghdad Municipality will begin developing highways in addition to the Baghdad Metro, which was announced as an investment opportunity, and we are proceeding with its implementation, in addition to the project to invest waste in the production of electrical energy.”
