The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, said today, Thursday, that there are no speculations regarding any future military operations in Iraq, while confirming that yesterday’s attack in Baghdad came in response to repeated attacks against American forces, and we notified the Iraqi government shortly after its implementation.
The ministry said, “There are no speculations regarding any future military operations in Iraq, but we will take all appropriate measures to protect our forces,” stressing that “the attack carried out by the United States in Baghdad yesterday was a response to repeated attacks against American forces.”
She added, “It is estimated that about 40 members of groups linked to Iran were killed or injured by our strikes in Iraq and Syria,” adding, “Our estimate is that only Abu Baqir al-Saadi was killed in the strike that we carried out yesterday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.”
The ministry explained, “The American forces are in Iraq at the invitation of the government to confront ISIS, and we have powers to defend our forces,” stressing that “Washington notified the Iraqi government of yesterday’s attack in Baghdad, which targeted Al-Saadi, shortly after it was carried out.”
